Summer in Cape Town is notoriously paired with the Cape Doctor – the infamous South Easter that has the tendency to blow for daaaays during the months of November, December and January. There are few places to hide in this time, and they tend to pack up pretty quickly with beach goers of the peninsula. And Camps Bay is no different.
However, it offers more than the one beach:one town ratio. Surrounded by a collection of beaches with the Cape’s celebrated white sand, there’s not shortage of space or privacy (except on the 1st & 2nd of January every year – 2013 saw beach capacity reach all new heights).
If you’re looking for a bustling beach head to Camps Bay Beach or one of the Clifton shorelines (there are four to choose from). For something a bit tamer look to Beta Beach, which is a local favourite, Little Beach or Bakoven Beach.
